Education to Employability – MISB Bocconi at Young India Challenge 2016

The 6th Young India Challenge (YIC) was organised on 17th – 18th September 2016 at Shri Ram College of Commerce, Delhi for the top 10% of the innovative young minds in India. 250 delegates were selected from more than 20 cities to participate in the experiential events, which comprised of personal growth workshops like ‘Hack Your Brain’, inspiring sessions like #DoWhatYouLove Stories’. This was the biggest YIC till date. At the end of day 1, delegates were divided in teams of 8-10 people and were given a challenge to find solutions for some of India’s biggest challenges. The delegates were mostly under-grad and recent grad students from diverse universities.

YIC is a creation of Human Circle – a movement to inspire, enable and empower people to follow their passion and reach their goals. The movement is driven by students, artists, freelancers, entrepreneurs, young professionals, authors, speakers, trainers, coaches, mentors and everybody else who believes that the only way to be truly successful, rich and happy in life is by doing what we love. This simple wisdom is translated by our ‘happiness team’ into experiential physical/virtual platforms and programs like hangouts, seminars, workshops, conferences, retreats, masterminds and festivals.

YIC offers its delegates many opportunities to find mentors, work opportunities and recommendations to pursue higher education in some of the finest centers of learning. Given the limitations of the Indian education system, in terms of its lack of practical and experiential nature, we feel there is a strong need to introduce young people to new ways of gaining knowledge beyond their graduation degree. One of the key partners for this YIC was MISB Bocconi, located in Mumbai. It is the world’s only offshore presence of Università Bocconi, one of Europe’s premier universities. Università Bocconi ranks 10th worldwide for Business and Management by QS 2016. MISB Bocconi offers Post-Graduate program in Business and Executive Education, designed and taught by the faculty of SDA Bocconi, Milan, Italy. SDA Bocconi, the management school of Università Bocconi, is one of the selected business schools worldwide to have received, for its MBA program, all three of the prestigious international accreditations—AACSB (Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business), EQUIS (European Quality Improvement System), and AMBA (Association of MBAs).

MISB Bocconi’s key differentiator lies in the wide-ranging practical and academic expertise of the SDA Bocconi faculty; pro-active learning pedagogies include industry interaction, job-oriented internships, and projects to prepare students for global leadership. International exposure is integral to the program through the dual campus student exchange between Milan and Mumbai and immersion across three continents.

“Your MISB Bocconi PGPB Program will be a challenging and rewarding life experience, which will empower your future career and enhance your personal growth.” – Alessandro Giuliani, Managing Director, MISB Bocconi.

“As per the ‘Nationality Employability Report’, 50% of the graduates in India are unemployable in the knowledge sector of the economy. Students must explore their passion and pursue their higher education only in the area of their interest like management, research or any others.” – Kamal Seth, Founder & Chief Happiness Officer, Human Circle.

With their important support for the 6th YIC, MISB Bocconi demonstrated its commitment towards providing students in India, with new ways to learn, explore, experience and become outstanding management professionals. We thank them for their encouraging support and empowering Human Circle to increase the scale of the #DoWhatYouLove movement.
